Lip Blush Pre-Care Instructions

30 Days Before Procedure:

  • Avoid Botox and fillers around the lips.

2 Weeks Before Procedure:

  • Avoid facials, bleaching treatments, or waxings around the lips.
  • Avoid extensive sun exposure and sunburn.

1 Week Before Procedure:

  • Avoid Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Naproxen (Tylenol/Acetaminophen is okay).
  • Avoid fish oils, DHA supplements, cayenne, turmeric, vitamin E, and niacin (anything that can cause blood thinning).
  • Avoid marijuana and smoking.
  • Avoid Glycolic acid, chemical peels, and laser treatments on the face.
  • Avoid Retinols and anti-aging creams (e.g., Retin-A).

If taking any of the above for medical reasons, consult your physician.

Keep your lips well-hydrated with a good lip balm.

If you have ever had cold sores or are prone to herpes simplex virus outbreaks, consult your doctor about taking medication like Acyclovir, Zovirax, or Valtrex before and after the procedure. You ay also get the vitamin L-lysine and begin taking 4 days prior.

 

1-3 Days Before Procedure:

  • Avoid alcohol (especially red wine).
  • Limit coffee or tea (half a cup is okay; opt for decaffeinated).
  • Gently exfoliate your lips 2 days prior using a sugar and coconut oil mixture.
  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid wearing lipsticks. They tend to dry the lips out

Day of Procedure:

  • Wear normal makeup if desired.
  • Bring your favorite lipsticks or photos of preferred lip shapes/colors.

 

Lip Blush Post-Care Instructions

Immediately Following the Procedure:

  1. Apply the lip moisturizer with a clean q-tip, using a very thin layer for 30 days.
  2. Gently wipe lips with damp cotton pad or baby wipe to remove lymph fluid every hour for the first day. Some pigment may come off, which is normal.
  3. If swelling occurs, apply an ice pack with a protective barrier for the first 24 hours.
  4. For soreness or swelling, consider taking Advil or a natural alternative like arnica pills.

Healing Phases:

  1. Day 1-3: Swelling, tenderness, reddish brick color.
  2. Day 4-5: Exfoliation/peeling begins; lips will be very chapped.
  3. Day 6: Soft, rich color starts to appear.
  4. Day 7-13: Frosty stage with a white-ish haze as the color fades.
  5. Day 14-21: Color gradually develops; true color reveals by Day 21.

During Healing:

  • Avoid touching lips with fingers.
  • Avoid toothpaste on lips; use gentle dental care.
  • Blot with tissue; do not rub.
  • Drink through a straw until peeling is complete.
  • Avoid kissing until scabs have fallen off.
  • No conventional lipstick or petroleum products.
  • Apply aftercare gel with a clean q-tip several times a day.
  • Use a clean, dark pillowcase and sleep on your back.
  • Be cautious when putting on or taking off clothes over your head.
  • Use medication for cold sores if needed.
  • Do not pick or peel lip skin.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure; use SPF once healed.
  • No smoking until fully healed.
  • Avoid soaps or alpha hydroxy products until healed.
  • Do not evaluate results until 30 days after the procedure.
